Pectus Up Surgery Kit has been used for the first time in Madrid. Dr. Ignacio Muguruza and his thoracic surgery team, along with Dr. Bardají, performed two surgeries using the Taulinoplastia technique in both patients affected by Pectus Excavatum. Interventions have been made in the Hospital Universitario Rey Juan Carlos and the Jimenez Diaz Foundation Hospital Universitario.

Dr. Ignacio Muguruza Trueba is the Head of Thoracic Surgery Department in Madrid Idcsalud Hospitals (University Hospital Fundación Jiménez Díaz); Hospital Universitario Rey Juan Carlos and Infanta Elena; and Hospital General de Villalba.

He is also a researcher in Idcsalud Hospitals and Casual Lecturer in the Autonomous University of Madrid, Faculty of Medicine. Muguruza specializes in chest deformities surgery and minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgery among others.

Pectus Up Surgery Kit expands

Pectus Up Surgery Kit and the Taulinoplastia technique are still being expanded throughout the Spanish territory. Madrid joins Barcelona and Valladolid as the Spanish cities with interventions of pectus excavatum with the Taulinoplastia technique.

Other hospitals in Madrid, such as Hospital Universitario La Paz, will soon follow the steps of these two centers. Dr. Carlos Andrés de la Torre is an associated physician Pediatric Surgeon of this hospital, area manager of the thoracic surgery malformations in children and teenagers. De la Torre has already participated in several surgical sessions with this new method, as well as the intervention in the Jimenez Diaz Foundation Hospital Universitario.

Hospital La Paz is a public center where 43,000 operations per year have been performed, some of them with high technical complexity.
