The event was held in Granada (Spain) on 24, 25 and 26 May and welcomed the most prestigious pediatric surgeons in Spain.

Ventura Medical Technologies, the company developing Pectus Up, a new minimally invasive procedure to fix the Pectus Excavatum condition, attended the LVII Congress of the Spanish Pediatric Surgery Society last month of May in Granada, Spain. The company wished to join the occasion to support one of the most experienced surgeons in Pectus Up for children and adolescents, Dr. Bernardo Núñez, Pediatric Surgery Service Coordinator in Hospital Parc Taulí in Sabadell (Barcelona, Spain).

Dr. Núñez shared a communication with the participants to the congenital thoracic malformations session in which he announced a Pectus Up modality with a new functionality of this innovative extrathoracic surgical method for Pectus Excavatum, ensuring the potential of the new technique.

He introduced the ability of Pectus Up surgical technique to reduce the potential morbidity of Nuss technique when used on a combined basis on patients affected by Pectus Excavatum with a severe Haller Index.

In his presentation conclusion, Dr. Núñez stated that the same procedure used for sternal lift before placing the Pectus Up implant is a good complement for patients with extreme sternal sinking for reducing surgical Nuss technique inherent risks.

During the congress, several pediatric surgeons introduced their experiences in Pectus Excavatum treatment, and the Hospital Taulí presentation generated a great deal of expectation for minimizing the remarkable potential morbidity of Nuss method when surgeons opt for this surgical choice.

Last advances in pediatric surgery were also introduced in the event, as well as a broad and varied range of scientific activities, with analysis and solutions proposals  for problems faced by the Spanish pediatric surgery, by encouraging investigation among its professionals.
