Pectus Up consists of a surgical implant and a set of tools to be used through a new extra-thoracic method to repair Pectus Excavatum called Taulinoplastia. This surgical procedure is minimally invasive and reduces pain and recovery time, as well as any possible complication.
Dr. Manuel López Paredes, which is part of the scientific committee of the congress and also chief of pediatric surgery service in Hospital Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, has already performed several interventions with the Taulinoplastia method, both in Saint Etienne (France) and in Barcelona (Spain).
During the meeting, Ana Laín Fernández, attending physician of the pediatric surgery service in Hospital Vall d’Hebron, will make a communication that will show the technique of Taulinoplastia and the echocardiographic improvement of the heart (mitral valve) during the intervention.
The oral presentation, named Transesophageal Echocardiography during Surgical Correction of Pediatric Pectus Excavatum: Preliminary Assessment of Intraoperative Cardiologic Changes will be held on Friday 16 during the third session of oral presentations, from 15h to16h.
