Ventura Medical Technologies and Medicalex worked toghether in the presentation of the Pectus Up at the SOFCOT Congress, in Paris (France).

The innovative technique to correct the Pectus Excavatum was introduced to the more than 4000 specialists who attended the Congress of the Société Française de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologique (SOFCOT), held at the Congress Palace in Paris on November 11, 12 and 13, 2019.

It was the 94th Congress of the Society of Orthopedic and Traumatological Surgery, which was celebrating its 101st anniversary. The event was focused on issues as teaching and research in daily practice. It was organized by Professors Didier Mainard, President of the Académie d’Orthopédie et de Traumatologie (AOT), and Philippe Valenti, President of the Conseil National Professionnel de la SOFCOT (CNP-SOFCOT).

Medicalex is a French family-owned company run by Mr. Aldo Levy and Mrs. Cécile Levy, whose specialization is research, design, manufacture and marketing of orthopedic implants and various surgical materials.

In turn, Ventura Medical Technologies is a family business located in the province of Barcelona (Spain), with the capacity to cover all stages of the development of a medical innovation project, from the valuation of the idea to the marketing of the product.

The company manages the whole range of innovation processes, own R+D+i resources, design, manufacturing and marketing of its products.

In June 2018, Ventura Medical Technologies’ team already went to Paris, along with Hospital Parc Taulí de Sabadell (Barcelona) at the 19th European Paediatric Surgeons ’Association Congress.

In this congress, the comparative results between the NUSS method and the innovative Pectus Up technique – both used for the fixing of the Pectus Excavatum – were introduced during the clinical trial started in 2012.

The conclusion of the study was that Pectus Up represented a safe and effective treatment for patients affected by Pectus Excavatum, with significant advantages over other systems used.

With the Pectus Up, the time in the operating room, the postoperative pain and the hospital stay are reduced. However, the main advantage of the technique is that it is extrathoracic, which reduces the risk of damage to the vital organs of the chest. In short, the Pectus Up is an excellent alternative for fixing the Pectus Excavatum.
