{"id":13493,"date":"2018-10-16T10:35:36","date_gmt":"2018-10-16T10:35:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/?p=5850\/"},"modified":"2018-10-16T10:35:36","modified_gmt":"2018-10-16T10:35:36","slug":"first-pectus-up-surgery-in-the-valencian-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/en\/first-pectus-up-surgery-in-the-valencian-community\/","title":{"rendered":"FIRST PECTUS UP SURGERY IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><em>Dr. Jos\u00e9 Marcelo Galbis is the first surgeon to perform a surgery with the Pectus Up Surgery Kit in the Valencian Community.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/laribera.riberasalud.com\/\">Hospital de la Ribera<\/a>, in Alcira (Valencia) was the stage of the course <em>Jornadas en Cirug\u00eda Tor\u00e1cica<\/em>, aimed at pediatric and thoracic surgeons interested in the knowledge and management of the pathology and reconstruction of the chest wall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The course, backed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sect.es\/\">Spanish Society of Thoracic Surgery (SECT)<\/a>, was attended by specialists in thoracic surgery from several hospitals in Spain, such as Dr. Orlando Gigirey, of the San Pedro de Alc\u00e1ntara Hospital in C\u00e1ceres, Dr. Roberto Antonio Fern\u00e1ndez Anzules, of the Hospital Joan XXIII in Tarragona, Dr. Diana Baquero, of the Hospital La Fe in Valencia, Dr. Julio Ricardo Torres Berm\u00fadez, of the University Hospital Virgen de las Nieves in Granada, or Dr. Anna Mu\u00f1oz Fos, of the Hospital Reina Sof\u00eda in Cordoba.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">During the course, <a href=\"https:\/\/cirugiatoracicagalbis.es\/jose-marcelo-galbis\/\">Dr. Jos\u00e9 Marcelo Galbis<\/a> practiced a live intervention with the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong>, the extrathoracic implant developed by <strong>Ventura Medical Technologies<\/strong> that enables the correction of <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> in a minimally invasive way thanks to an extrathoracic approach, which significantly reduces pain and shortens the patient\u2019s recovery time, in this case a 12-year-old boy who was discharged 48 hours after the surgery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dr. Galbis is head of the Thoracic Surgery Service and coordinator of the Respiratory Area of ??the Hospital de la Ribera, thoracic surgery consultant at the Hospital Intermutual Levante, President of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sect.es\/\">Spanish Society of Thoracic Surgery (SECT<\/a>), and chairman of the research commission of the University Hospital de la Ribera. This center has hence become the first public hospital of the Valencian Community to incorporate the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> as a pioneering technique to fix the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong>.
