{"id":13528,"date":"2019-03-25T13:38:44","date_gmt":"2019-03-25T13:38:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/?p=7399"},"modified":"2023-06-12T06:37:53","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T06:37:53","slug":"first-pectus-up-surgery-in-chile-on-13-year-old-patient","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/en\/first-pectus-up-surgery-in-chile-on-13-year-old-patient\/","title":{"rendered":"FIRST PECTUS UP SURGERY IN CHILE ON A 13 YEAR-OLD PATIENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><em>Dr. Patricio Herrera Oroz, with Dr. Manuel L\u00f3pez Paredes, Head of Pediatric Surgery at the Vall d&#8217;Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, \u200b\u200boperated on a 13-year-old girl at the Dr. Exequiel Gonz\u00e1lez Cort\u00e9s Hospital in Santiago, Chile.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Another Latin American country starts its path with the new <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> surgical method meant to improve the quality of life of patients affected by <strong>Pectus Excavatum<\/strong>. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hegc.gob.cl\/\">Hospital Dr. Exequiel Gonz\u00e1lez Cort\u00e9s<\/a>, site of the first <strong>Pectus Up<\/strong> in Chile, is a pediatric educational assistance center belonging to the Public Network of the Southern Metropolitan Health Service of Santiago de Chile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The <strong>Pectus Up<\/strong> is an innovative extrathoracic surgical method, developed by <a href=\"http:\/\/venturamedicaltechnologies.com\/es\/\">Ventura Medical Technologies<\/a>, whereby the sternum is lifted by means of an implant and the sunken shape of the thoracic cavity is restored by using a minimally invasive technique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The company that will make it possible for the new procedure to reach many hospitals in Chile is <em><strong>Pectus Chile<\/strong><\/em>, the official <strong>Pectus Up<\/strong> distributor, whose general manager is Mr. Jorge Espinoza.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG-20190324-WA0004-e1553607945143.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload alignleft size-medium wp-image-7387\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%27http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%27%20width%3D%27225%27%20height%3D%27300%27%20viewBox%3D%270%200%20225%20300%27%3E%3Crect%20width%3D%27225%27%20height%3D%27300%27%20fill-opacity%3D%220%22%2F%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG-20190324-WA0004-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Dr. Patricio Herrera Oroz is the first surgeon to operate on a patient affected by <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> with the Pectus Up in Chile. Herrera is a pediatric surgeon and has more than 15 years of experience in this area. He is currently a staff doctor of the Pediatric Surgery Service in the Cl\u00ednica Alemana de Santiago and in Hospital Exequiel Gonz\u00e1lez Cort\u00e9s. He is also a member of the Chilean Society of Pediatric Surgery and works as a professor at the University of Chile. He has made improvement stays in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Toronto, Canada, specializing in thoracic and tracheal surgery for children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Throughout his professional life, he has developed the learning of treatments that include the solution to congenital defects and malformations, such as <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> and Pectus Carinatum, among other disorders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">His experience and his interest in the minimally invasive approach of these diseases have led him to know and to be trained in new surgical techniques, such as the extrathoracic method of <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong>, in order to offer the best solution to children and teens affected by <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This country takes the number of Latin American countries to three -Colombia, Mexico and Chile &#8211; that rely upon the <strong>Pectus Up<\/strong> as an innovative alternative to the traditional treatments for the <strong>Pectus Excavatum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Patricio Herrera Oroz, with Dr. Manuel L\u00f3pez Paredes, Head [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":17239,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[175,174],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-13528","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-noticias"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
