The local committee of the congress is comprised, among others, by doctors Manuel Castanedo Allende, Mariano Garc\u00eda Yuste and Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Matilla Gonz\u00e1lez, from the Thoracic Surgery Service of the Hospital Cl\u00ednico of Valladolid, who have already used the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> technique in twelve <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> patients.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Among the events scheduled for Thursday, May 30, as part of Symposium II, <em>How do I<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cirugiatoracica.es\/dr-varela.html\">Dr. Andr\u00e9s Varela<\/a> will introduce the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> technique, developed by <a href=\"http:\/\/venturamedicaltechnologies.com\/es\/\">Ventura Medical Technologies<\/a> as an innovative system for the surgical treatment for <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dr. Varela is head of the Thoracic Surgery Service in Hospital Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda and in Quir\u00f3nsalud Hospital, both of Madrid. In the last two years, he has performed 14 surgeries with the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong>, thus becoming the most experienced thoracic surgeon in this new surgical technique in Spain. In addition, he is a reference in the training of surgeons, both thoracic and pediatric, since its interventions have been attended by more than 25 surgery professionals worldwide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Thanks to the collaboration of Dr. Varela in the improvements introduced in the technique, the age range and the typological diversity of <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> of the patients candidates for this surgery have been extended. The <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> has well-defined and standardized criteria that allow a good replication of the technique by means of an extrathoracic approach, which entails very little postoperative pain and a shorter recovery period than other techniques used to fix this deformity.
