{"id":13543,"date":"2019-05-29T07:40:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-29T07:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/?p=7732"},"modified":"2019-05-29T07:40:00","modified_gmt":"2019-05-29T07:40:00","slug":"andres-varela-surgeon-pectus-up-surgeries-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/en\/andres-varela-surgeon-pectus-up-surgeries-spain\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Andr\u00e9s Varela is consolidated as the thoracic surgeon with more Pectus Up surgeries in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong><em>Two patients with Pectus Excavatum have undergone surgeries with the new Pectus Up technique at Hospital Puerta de Hierro in Madrid.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cirugiatoracica.es\/dr-varela.html\">Dr. Andr\u00e9s Varela<\/a>, Head of the Thoracic Surgery Service in Hospital Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda, Hospital Quir\u00f3nsalud and Hospital La Luz, all in Madrid (Spain), has successfully operated on two new patients affected by <strong>Pectus Excavatum <\/strong>with the <strong>Pectus Up <\/strong>technique. This time, surgeries have been performed on a 46 year-old adult patient and a 20 year-old young man, both with highly successful results.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> is an extrathoracic implant for the correction of <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> through a minimally invasive approach, which considerably reduces the complexity and risks of the surgery. Among many of its advantages, we can point out that it is easy to implant, that it causes less pain than traditional techniques and that it requires fewer hospitalization days, so the patient experiences a rapid postoperative recovery.<\/p>\n<p>The implant, developed by <a href=\"http:\/\/venturamedicaltechnologies.com\/es\/\">Ventura Medical Technologies<\/a>, was designed in 2012, with a first version aimed at children and teens. Since then, it has undergone several stages of evolution and, thanks largely to the collaboration of Dr. Varela in the improvements introduced in the technique, the target age range has been extended to non-pediatric patients, and so has been the typological diversity of the condition among the candidates for this kind of surgery. At the present time, Dr. Varela is the surgeon that has performed most <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> surgical interventions in Spain and, by the end of May; he will introduce the technique at the <a href=\"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/pectus-up-x-congreso-sect-2019\/\">X SECT Congress<\/a>, of the Spanish Society of Thoracic Surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Ventura Medical Technologies\u2019 <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> is currently marketed in Spain, France and Portugal, in Europe, and in Colombia, Chile and Mexico in Latin America.
