The congress will be organized in cooperation with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spcctv.pt\/\">Sociedade Portuguesa de Cirurgia Cardiotor\u00e1cica e Vascular<\/a> (SPCCTV), chaired by Dr. Adelino Leite Moreira, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/spc.pt\/\">Sociedade Portuguesa de Cardiologia<\/a> (SPC).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">During the congress, topics that deal from translational medicine to the most advanced surgical techniques will be addressed. The latter is the case of <em>Pectus<\/em> <em>Up<\/em>, an excellent minimally invasive alternative for the fixing of <em>Pectus<\/em> <em>Excavatum<\/em>, developed by <a href=\"http:\/\/venturamedicaltechnologies.com\/\">Ventura Medical Technologies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">On November 24, at the 6th session of the Congress, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/profesionales\/dr-abel-nascimento\/\">Dr. Abel Nascimento<\/a><\/strong> will introduce the <em>Pectus Up<\/em> system at the session <em>Innovation in Thoracic Surgery<\/em>. The presidents of this session are <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cuf.pt\/medicos\/francisco-felix\">Dr. Francisco Felix<\/a><\/strong>, thoracic surgeon and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cuf.pt\/medicos\/cristina-borges\">Dr. Cristina Borges<\/a><\/strong>, pediatric surgeon in Lisbon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Dr. Abel Nascimento<\/strong> is head of the Orthopedics and Traumatology service of the hospitals of the University of Coimbra (CHUC) and professor of the Faculty of Medicine. He also chairs the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abelnascimento.net\/\">Instituto de Cirug\u00eda Reconstructiva<\/a>, integrated in <em>Idealmed<\/em>, an international group of renowned prestige comprised of more than 500 professionals in different specialties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In December 2017, Nascimento performed the first Pectus Up surgery in Portugal on a 19-year-old patient. The operation took place at the <em>Instituto de Cirug\u00eda Reconstructiva<\/em> of Coimbra with excellent results.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Ventura Medical Technologies<\/strong> has achieved well-defined and standardized criteria for a good replication of the <em>Pectus<\/em> <em>Up<\/em> technique through an extrathoracic approach. As a result, the patient experiences very little postoperative pain. Likewise, the recovery period is less than for other techniques used to fix the <em>Pectus<\/em> <em>Excavatum<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Pectus Up<\/em> represents a great step forwards in <em>Pectus Excavatum<\/em> treatment. It is free from complications and serious risks, so it could not miss an event in which the most advanced surgical techniques in thoracic surgery will be discussed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
