{"id":13584,"date":"2020-01-30T14:47:31","date_gmt":"2020-01-30T14:47:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/?p=8376"},"modified":"2022-11-04T08:35:44","modified_gmt":"2022-11-04T08:35:44","slug":"pectus-up-ecuador-colombia-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/en\/pectus-up-ecuador-colombia-2\/","title":{"rendered":"A patient from Ecuador operated on in Colombia with the Pectus Up extrathoracic implant"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><strong>Dr. Carlos Alberto Rodriguez Sabogal<\/strong><strong>, an expert in chest deformities, practiced a new surgery on a 23-year-old patient affected by Pectus Excavatum, also called <\/strong><\/em><strong>sunken<\/strong> <strong>chest<\/strong><em><strong>.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>The patient came specifically from Quito to be operated on in Bogot\u00e1, after assessing the advantages offered by the i<strong>nnovative Pectus Up extrathoracic system<\/strong> in relation to few days spent in hospital, less use of analgesia and quick recovery.<\/p>\n<p>The advantages of treating the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> with the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> include that <strong>it is very little invasive and without risks of damaging internal organs<\/strong>, since the surgery does not require to enter the chest cavity to place the implant.<\/p>\n<p>The surgery was performed in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miclinicavip.com\/DNNClinicaVIP\/\">Cl\u00ednica VIP &#8211; Centro M\u00e9dico Internacional de Bogot\u00e1<\/a><strong>. The patient was discharged after two days of hospital stay and was able to return to his country after his stitches were removed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rodr\u00edguez has successfully operated with the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> technique on a large number of patients in Colombia. He has also trained all thoracic surgeons there, who are currently treating the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong>, also known as <em>funnel<\/em> <em>chest<\/em>, with this procedure.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Rodr\u00edguez was trained in Barcelona (Spain) with the Company <a href=\"http:\/\/venturamedicaltechnologies.com\">Ventura Medical Technologies<\/a>, developper of the <strong>minimally invasive surgical technique Pectus Up<\/strong>. This innovative procedure involves the traction of the sternum with an extrathoracic approach until the sinking of the thorax is reduced.<\/p>\n<p>With this Ecuadorian patient\u2019s surgery, it is confirmed that the <strong>Pectus Up Surgery Kit<\/strong> <strong>is expanding borders in the Latin American continent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Currently, there are patients being treated with the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> method in Mexico, Chile and Colombia in Latin America, and in Spain, France, and Portugal in Europe.
