The Academy is the advisory body of the Federal Government on health and social policy. It also advises the General Health Council of Mexico and has more than 400 members from 64 specialties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Pectus up: the new traction technique for pectus excavatum. First surgery in Northeast of Mexico<\/em> is the title of the article published by several surgeons from the General Surgery Service of the Dr. Jos\u00e9 Eleuterio Gonz\u00e1lez University Hospital in Nuevo Le\u00f3n, Monterrey, Mexico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among the authors we can find Dr. Fernando Montes-Tapia and Dr. Manuel Wong-Jaen, who promoted the first international workshop and the first surgery in Monterrey at the same hospital in December 2018. This workshop was attended by Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/profesionales\/dr-manuel-lopez\/?lang=en\">Manuel L\u00f3pez Paredes<\/a>, Head of Pediatric Surgery at the Vall d&#8217;Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bSpain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The article covers the experience of a 16-year-old male <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> patient with Haller&#8217;s index 4, treated with <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong>. The aim of the authors with this publication is to \u201cincrease the dissemination and experience in the national literature so that in the near future we will have more elaborate clinical studies evaluating this promising extrathoracic reduction technique\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It also stands out the good results and the absence of complications, as well as the good response in the postoperative period. This patient&#8217;s current asymptomaticism is also reported, 18 months after the operation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> is the most common congenital deformity of the rib cage. It affects one in every 400 births and it is related to the growth of the costochondral cartilages.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> surgical treatments is the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong>, developed by <a href=\"http:\/\/venturamedicaltechnologies.com\/\">Ventura Medical Technologies<\/a>. As mentioned in the article on <em>Cirug\u00eda<\/em> <em>y<\/em> <em>Cirujanos<\/em>, \u201cit is a minimally invasive method with good postoperative results. The extrathoracic approach avoids invasion of the mediastinum or the pleural cavity, thus reducing the main complications of Nuss&#8217;s thoracoplasty and the risk of injury to vital organs\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The article concludes that the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> &#8220;is an ideal procedure that it is beginning to take hold in more developed countries as the first line of treatment for <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a
