{"id":13669,"date":"2021-09-02T09:00:22","date_gmt":"2021-09-02T09:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/?p=10066"},"modified":"2025-06-23T08:30:56","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T08:30:56","slug":"new-surgery-pectus-greece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pectusup.com\/en\/new-surgery-pectus-greece\/","title":{"rendered":"The Pectus Up is consolidated in Greece"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>The second case of Pectus Excavatum treated with Pectus Up in Greece marks a milestone in this innovative technique.<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After the launch in Greece of the <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong>, a minimally invasive surgical technique to fix <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> &#8212;which took place last February with an operation on a 40-year-old male patient that proceeded without any complication&#8212; the Hellenic country sets a precedent with a new surgery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This time, the patient was a 47-year-old woman, <strong>the oldest person operated on with Pectus Up to date<\/strong>, affected by an asymmetric <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong> with a slight sternal rotation, a Haller index of 2.8 and a 3 cm depth to raise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The same as the first surgery in Greece, this one was performed at <a href=\"https:\/\/lefkosstavros.gr\/\">Lefkos Stavros Hospital &#8211; The Athens Clinic<\/a> by <strong>Dr. Ioannis Paralikas<\/strong>, who was trained in the technique in Athens in January 2021.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The training in this technique was managed by professionals from <a href=\"http:\/\/venturamedicaltechnologies.com\/\">Ventura Medical Technologies<\/a>, the developer of the implant, and had the collaboration of Emergy Products SA, the official distributor of <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> in Greece.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The surgery took place in early July, and the patient\u2019s recovery is taking a normal course.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> was initially conceived for the treatment of pediatric patients, but because of the evolution of both the implant and the technique since its inception in 2012, it can now be used in adult patients and with a greater range of asymmetry and depth in their <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Excavatum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> is the least invasive surgical treatment for this pathology, and stands out by the technical ease for the surgeon, as well as by the quick recovery and mild pain for the patient.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The evidence for this is the continuous expansion of <strong>Pectus<\/strong> <strong>Up<\/strong> worldwide. Currently, it is already available in Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Poland and Slovakia in Europe, and in Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and the
