Professor Inserra, Head of Surgery at the Bambino Ges\u00f9 Children’s Hospital in Rome, and his surgical team have recently published two scientific publications on Pectus Up<\/a>, demonstrating the significant advances made by Pectus Up in the correction of Pectus Excavatum.<\/h3>\n

These studies, carried out by Professor Alessandro Inserra<\/b>, Dr Simone Frediani <\/b>and the rest of the paediatric surgical team at the hospital, have been published in the prestigious journals Frontiers in Pediatrics <\/i>and Frontiers in Surgery <\/i>new scientific publications on Pectus Up. They highlight how technological innovation in the treatment of Pectus Excavatum<\/b>, specifically the Pectus Up New Generation<\/b>, can improve the quality of life of patients affected by this condition.<\/p>\n

Publication 1: <\/b>New technique for minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum: Pectus Up New Generation<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

In this article entitled Case report: Modified Taulinoplasty: a new technique for the minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum<\/b><\/i>, published on 12th January 2024, the researchers from Bambino Ges\u00f9 present the results of interventions using the Pectus Up <\/b>technique on their patients since its launch.<\/p>\n

This study, led by Inserra and Frediani, documents and compares the results of 35 patients with pectus excavatum treated with either the original version of the technique, called taulinoplasty, or the new version, called Pectus Up New Generation<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The results of this first series of cases analysed indicate a significant improvement in aesthetic outcomes and postoperative recovery for patients undergoing pectus excavatum surgery with Pectus Up New Generation<\/b>, reducing the minor postoperative complications observed with the original version of the technique.<\/p>\n

The innovative technique uses external traction on the sternum to achieve elevation without entering the mediastinum or pleural cavity. This extrathoracic and minimally invasive technique has been shown to be relatively simple, easy to learn and associated with clear patient benefits such as minimal pain and rapid recovery.<\/p>\n

Publication 2: Double Pectus Up for severe Pectus Excavatum <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The second study, Case report: Double Pectus Up in severe Pectus Excavatum, the new frontier of modified taulinoplasty<\/b><\/i>, published on 17 May, introduces an advanced technique for severe cases of Pectus Excavatum<\/b>. This study was also developed by Professor Inserra and Dr Frediani, who used two Pectus Up<\/b> bars to achieve a more effective and stable correction of the deformity.<\/p>\n

In this case study, a 15-year-old teenager underwent the procedure with promising results. The procedure involves the insertion of two Pectus Up<\/b> bars into the sunken area, ensuring the invisibility of the implant under the pectoral muscles. This technique has been shown to improve short-term correction and long-term stability, although it also presents technical challenges for the surgeon and a longer operation time.<\/p>\n

These studies represent a step forward in the treatment of pectus excavatum, also known as funnel chest, offering less invasive alternatives with better outcomes. The ongoing research and refinement of this technique by Ventura Medical Technologies<\/b><\/a> could set new standards in the treatment of this thoracic deformity, benefiting patients worldwide.<\/p>\n
