Italian surgeons train in Pectus Up in Madrid

Dr. Andrés Varela and Dr. Javier Moradiellos led the training in the treatment of Pectus Excavatum with the innovative surgical technique Pectus Up.

Quirónsalud joins the Hospital Puerta de Hierro in the training of surgeons in the Pectus Up technique, in which the extrathoracic implant developed by Ventura Medical Technologies is used for the treatment of the Pectus Excavatum.

The intervention took place in September and it was also attended by Dr. Giampiero Dolci, thoracic surgeon and medical director of the Thoracic Surgery Service in the Hospital Policlinico Sant ‘Orsola-Malpighi in Bologna (Italy), along with Mr. Piero. Malobbia, CEO of the company Conecto Srl, medical products distributor of in Europe.

Dr. Régulo Ávila, thoracic surgeon of the Hospital Central de la Defensa Gómez Ulla of Madrid and the Ruber International Hospital, expert in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, lung cancer and treatment of pulmonary metastases, was also present at the surgical session.

Dr. Dolci, expert in oncological thoracic surgery, lung transplants and thoracic deformities was trained in prestigious centers such as the Marie Lannelongue Surgical Center in Paris (France). He shared, along  with Dr. Avila, his experiences with Dr. Andrés Varela and Dr. Javier Moradiellos, chief of Thoracic Surgery in Hospital Quirónsalud, during the surgery.

Mr. Piero Malobbia is the CEO and founder of Conecto Srl, created in 2002 for international sales and marketing activities from the company Praesidia Bologna, Italian manufacturer and distributor of medical products.

Moradiellos is the director of the ex vivo perfusion program for lung transplantation at Hpspital Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda, and he is also associate chief of the Thoracic Surgery Service of the Hospital Quirónsalud Madrid, accumulating 12 years of professional experience in the field of thoracic surgery, lung transplantation and research.
