Dr. Juan José Fibla Alfara, thoracic surgeon, with Dr. Laureano Molins, head of Surgery Service in Hospital Sagrat Cor in Barcelona, operate on a patient from the UK for the first time.
Many patients with different nationalities make contact with surgeons treating Pectus Excavatum with this new extrathoracic method, to assess whether they can be operated on with the Pectus Up.
Currently, this medical device is being marketed in Spain and France, is already registered in Colombia, whose pediatric and thoracic surgeons are being trained to perform the technique, and is in the process of being registered in Mexico and Costa Rica.
More and more surgeons specialised in Pectus Excavatum surgical treatment are choosing the Taulinoplastia to treat their patients affected by this thoracic deformity, consolidating themselves as experts in other surgeons interested in this new surgical method.
On one side, Dr. Andrés Varela de Ugarte, head of Thoracic Surgery Service in Hospital Puerta de Hierro, along with Dr. Javier Moradiellos Diez operated on a new patient from Madrid last month of August, and on the other, Dr. Mariano García Yuste, head of surgery Service in Hospital Clínico in Valladolid, and Dr. Manuel Castanedo Allende performed another surgery in this Castilla and León regional community.
To contribute to more professionals training in Pectus Up, Dr. Bernardo Núñez García and Dr. Laureano Molins, in collaboration with Ventura Medical Technologies, are organizing an international training workshop on October 18 in Hospital Parc Taulí in Sabadell (Barcelona).
The aim of the workshop is spreading the clinical management of the Pectus Excavatum, disclosing the new Taulinoplastia technique and discussing the indications.
