Last 12th July, the second surgery using the Pectus Up Technique took place in France. It was performed by Dr. Olivier Tiffet in University Hospital of Saint Etienne.
The first operation with Pectus Up Surgery Kit was accomplished in the summer of 2016 by Dr. Manuel López, pediatric surgeon currently working in Hospital Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, and by Dr. Tiffet himself, head of Thoracic Surgery Service in this French hospital.
Dr. Tiffet is lecturer and specialist in Thoracic Surgery, whose experience in thoracic deformities dates back several years, during which he has been implementing improvements in surgical methods to fix those deformities, having ended up, for Pectus Excavatum, in Pectus Up Technique with the Pectus Up Surgery Kit.
France is the second European country to establish the Pectus Up Technique, an intervention to fix the Pectus Excavatum with a minimally invasive approach thanks to the Pectus Up Surgery Kit, the extrathoracic implant developed by Ventura Medical Technologies.
The Pectus Up has crossed borders: it has been recently registered in Colombia, it is currently in the process of registration in Mexico and Costa Rica, and it is already placed on the French market. Dr. Tiffet, after his first surgery, keeps indicating Pectus Up to patients affected by Pectus Excavatum, which means the consolidation of this technique in France, as well as the marketing expansion of the product over the world.
After a training process, and having taken part in several surgeries both in France and in Spain, Dr. Tiffet can provide training to all surgeons in French territory interested in operating on their patients affected by Pectus Excavatum with Pectus Up Technique, since it is a safe, minimally invasive procedure, requiring less time spent in hospital and a quicker recovery time than all techniques used so far.
