The Hospital Universitari Sagrat Cor in Barcelona has successfully performed the first procedure for Pectus Excavatum through Taulinoplastia. Dr. Laureano Molins along with his team, Dr. Juan J. Fibla and Dr. Jorge Hernández, has been responsible for operating on an 18 year-old patient affected by Pectus Excavatum. This has been the first surgery in Catalonia in 2017.

Dr. Laureano Molins

Doctor Laureano Molins head of thoracic surgery service in Sagrat Cor Hospital and Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, and great expert in Pectus Excavatum surgery through the Nuss procedure, is starting to point to Taulinoplastia for this condition treatment “to achieve similar good results and less possibility of complications”.

Dr. Molins has pointed out that “the procedure has gone very well and the patient is evolving very favourably, with little pain and well controlled, with medical discharge in 48 hours. We assess in high regards the simplicity of this technique and the fact that the patient shows a faster recovery. It is a minimally invasive technique, and therefore nearly painless”.
