Herrera is an internationally recognized pediatric surgeon with over 20 years experience in the treatment of pectus excavatum in children also in adults. He was trained in Chile, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in the Hospital Sick Children de Toronto, Ontario. Canada.
Now, is working at the Clínica Alemana de Santiago and, as Deputy Chief of General Surgery, Thoracic Coordinator at the Hospital de Niños Dr. Exequiel González Cortés
He is involved in a training program in pediatric thoracic surgery, also in adult thoracic surgery, in different hospitals in Chile. Even in other Latin American countries such as Perú, Costa Rica, among others, especially in Pectus Excavatum, with the innovative Pectus Up technique. He also teaches pediatric surgery at the University of Chile, in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
On the other hand and very relevant, has been the invaluable participation of Dr. Luís E. Zea in the planning of the live activities, that without him it would not have been possible.
Zea is a doctor of medicine and surgery, specialized in Pediatric Surgery, trained in Ecuador and in West Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany, at the Pediatric Clinic of the Rudolf Virchow Hospital. Among his main areas of experience we highlight the minimally invasive correction of Pectus excavatum and other chest deformities, as well as laparoscopic surgery.
The prestigious surgeon who was President of the Ecuadorian Society of Pediatric Surgery between 2008 – 2010. He is a staff pediatric surgeon in the Pediatric Surgery Services of the Francisco de Ycaza Bustamante Hospital, Hospital Clinica Kennedy Alborada, Ciudadela la Alborada, Guayaquil – Ecuador and the Surgery Service of the Omnihospital.
He is also a postgraduate Professor of Pediatric Surgery at the Catholic University of Guayaquil at the Francisco de Ycaza Bustamante Hospital; Editor of “Pediatric Surgery Ecuador”, specialist in Health Services Management and master in Hospital Management.
